December 22, 2009, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. I delivered my first lecture, attended by approximately 20 participants. This event also marked the third gathering of the Christian Studies and Sino-Western Cultural Youth Doctoral Forum. My presentation focused on Catholic funeral rites during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, employing textual analysis to explore how Catholicism constructed its identity. This approach differs somewhat from traditional historiography. The session was chaired by Associate Professor Guo Hong, with Dr. Shu Jian serving as the primary discussant and Dr. Liu Yi attending. Several new faces were present at the venue. We hope more individuals will develop an interest in this forum, thereby advancing the study of Christianity in China. The next event will feature a lecture by Zhang Yongguang from the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.
