At year's end, I planned to visit my alma mater while attending a conference in Beijing, inviting professors and younger classmates to dinner. Below is Wuming Lake in winter—utterly desolate. Soon enough, though, it will be ready for ice skating.
December 7-10, 2009: Attended the Second Forum for Young Catholic Scholars hosted by the Sophia Press and the Beijing Catholic Culture Research Institute. Chaired Session 8 and presented a paper.
On the 7th, I met some old friends at the conference, such as Liu Guopeng from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhang Jun from Shaanxi Normal University, and Zeng Zhihui from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Others included Li Lili, who had come from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. I also made some new acquaintances.
