I can do nothing about these matters at home

Recently, some relatives back home have encountered difficulties, but I can only offer advice—I'm truly powerless to help.

1. One relative, who is disabled, relies heavily on their rural tricycle for both work and daily life. Unexpectedly, after leaving the village, the tricycle was impounded by traffic police, who demanded payment of 10,000 yuan for insurance and registration. We all know rural tricycles aren't registered or insured. The relative said: “Ten thousand yuan could buy a new vehicle. I don't want this one anymore—give it to the traffic police.” They asked if I knew anyone who could help retrieve it. I was speechless for a long moment.

2. Another relative worked as a cook at the rural credit union in her township for eighteen years. Every time I returned home during holidays, she was never around because she was cooking for the credit union—rain or shine, sick or well, she never missed a day. For a time, she had a good relationship with the credit union's leadership and even dreamed of being formally hired. But at the end of 2025, the new manager claimed her cooking wasn't good enough and fired her outright—no explanation, no compensation.

Honestly, no one could accept that. First, calling her cooking “bad” was not only an insult to her character and dignity, but also brutally unfair and unsubstantiated. After eighteen years, no one had ever complained or said her food was bad. Every time I visited home, she’d prepare a feast for us—often cooking for the credit union first before making meals for our family. Second, even without a formal contract, the credit union paid her wages for eighteen years, establishing a de facto employment relationship. How could she be dismissed without cause under such circumstances?

Today, this relative called to say the branch manager (the credit union has now become a bank) consulted headquarters, who claimed she has no connection to the credit union—only to the agency—and compensation is impossible.

This statement is even more infuriating.

Just days ago, the manager said to “wait a bit.” Another staffer called, tricking her into signing a contract. After repeated questioning, they finally admitted it was a resignation agreement. My relative refused, insisting she never agreed to leave.

Then today, the leadership completely changed their tune.

Faster than a Sichuan opera face-changing act!

To evade responsibility, the credit union has had the agency (labor dispatch company) pay wages for the past five years. But as the employer, the credit union bears undeniable legal liability. Do they think rural people are easy to bully?

Is the law just toilet paper you use to bully ordinary folks?

Her husband is disabled and requires long-term medication, making her the sole breadwinner. This unjustified dismissal has only compounded their family's hardships.

As an educated person, I could only sigh in Beijing's biting north wind, patiently comforting her sobs over the phone. What else could I do?

I advised them to file for labor arbitration, but who knows what outcome awaits?

Alas!
