Recently, a friend informed me that an individual named Qu Jin has been claiming to have a close relationship with me, stating that he has “done many things” for me and that my “research institute was established through his efforts.”
I hereby state the following: I believe I met Qu Jin once at Shanghai University, where we may have discussed Chinese Christian texts, but we have had no contact since then and no business or financial dealings whatsoever. I did not establish any research institute, nor has he participated in any activities of the Center for the Study of Religion and Chinese Society. This center is a non-operational entity—it was not founded by me, nor has it received any funding from Qu Jin.
Should he attempt to use my background to endorse his actions, please disregard such claims or contact me directly for verification.
