On October 20, 2025, a lecture titled “China and the Catholic Mission, 1580–1800” was successfully held in Room 3109 of the Li Ka Shing Humanities Building. The lecture was delivered by Professor Ronnie Po-chia Hsia, Distinguished Professor at Pennsylvania State University, and chaired by Associate Professor Xiao Qinghe, Tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Peking University. Nearly thirty attendees from institutions including Peking University, Tsinghua University, and the China Academy of Socialism participated in the event.
Prior to the lecture, Professor Xiao Qinghe presented Professor Hsia with a copy of E-Kougu and the Study of East-West Civilizational Dialogue: Essays in Honor of Professor Ronnie Po-chia Hsia on His 70th Birthday, congratulating him on his septuagenarian milestone. The volume compiles scholarly essays by Wang Fan-sen, Huang Yinnong, Su Jilang, Sun Shangyang, and others on East-West civilizational dialogue, offering in-depth discussions on pivotal themes within modern East-West civilizations, histories, and intellectual traditions.
