On May 12, 2025, the academic symposium “Systematically Advancing the Sinicization of Religion in China” grandly commenced in Beijing. The conference was jointly hosted by the Institute of World Religions at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the CAS Think Tank on Religious Studies, and the Chinese Society for the Study of Religion. The symposium invited leaders from the United Front Work Departments and Ethnic and Religious Affairs Departments of Liaoning, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Shandong, Shanxi, Henan, Zhejiang, and Fujian provinces, as well as over 40 leading experts and scholars from institutions including the Institute of World Religions at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Institute of Religious Studies at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences, the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences, the Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Minzu University of China, Fudan University, Sichuan University, Yunnan University, Shandong University, Hunan University, Anyang Normal University, the Islamic Association of China, and the Henan Provincial Research Center for the Sinicization of Catholicism. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhu Xuyao, Deputy Director and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Institute of World Religions, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
