Despite the recent surge in daily COVID-19 cases in the United States reaching a record high of over 80,000, the beauty of autumn remains visible in this remote, rural area. Few pedestrians and vehicles grace the roads as leaves begin to change color. Some trees have already shed all their foliage, leaving behind a carpet of golden hues and a kaleidoscope of colors. If not for this damn pandemic, we might have traveled to different places or be preparing to return to our homeland. But for now, we remain stranded here.
